In July, I had the privilege of partaking in an incredible aerospace engineering taster week at BAE Systems. It truly inspired me, working with fellow aspiring engineers on a group project, gaining an insight into the industry applications of our knowledge and boosting key employability skills along the way. Using project management skills, design engineering, complex mathematics and critical thinking we constructed a solution to an industry orientated challenge.

At the end of the week, alongside my team we delivered a presentation which emphasised to me how teamwork, drive and a mutual passion for engineering can allow for great feats to be achieved. We successfully translated this to a panel of industry leads, resulting in us being awarded the winning team.

Meeting CEO Charles Woodburn and being presented our award by Christopher Boardman -Group Managing Director, Air Sector was a moment I will never forget, and it solidified to me the definitive difference I can make by pursuing a career in engineering. I am still both shocked and humbled to have been awarded ‘Engineer of the Week’ - an accolade I never thought I would achieve!
