Scottish Scholars attend London International Youth Science Forum

The annual London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF) is one of the world’s foremost science and engineering events - over 400 young scientists, engineers and technologists, aged 16 to 25, from over 45 countries descend on Imperial College, London for two weeks of lectures, demonstrations, networking events and site visits.

As part of Arkwright's 25th Anniversary celebrations, four Arkwright Engineering Scholars from Scotland attended this summer's event. The four Scholars were:

At the Opening Ceremony on 28 July the four Scholars met the Chair of the Board of Arkwright Trustees, Pauline Cox, and Trustee Paul Doble (see photo above) and Gemma carried the Saltire into the Opening Ceremony to represent Scotland!

To top it all, Arkwright alumna Lynda Nwike was a speaker at this year's LIYSF. Lynda was an Arkwright Scholar 2005 to 2007 sponsored by Sir John Cass's Foundation. She now works in the offshore oil & gas industry with Shell. Lynda regaled delegates about a 'Day in the Life of a Drilling Engineer'.
