The new £1 coin has just been launched, with an expected circulation lifetime of 25 years. The motif that appears on the reverse side of the new coin was designed by Arkwright Scholar, David Pearce from Queen Mary's Grammar School, Walsall. David completed the design and submitted it to a national competition during the time that he was applying for his Scholarship.
