This year we Awarded 393 Arkwright Engineering Scholarships, including a record-equalling 113 girls.

Arkwright Alumni, Rachael De’Ath Announced as Winner in ‘The Telegraph Top 50 Women in Engineering 2018’

Rachael De'Ath, an Arkwright Alumni and now Senior Teaching Associate at the University of Bristol and Senior Structural Engineer at Arup Bristol, has been announced as a winner in 'The Telegraph Top 50 Women in Engineering 2018'. 

Smallpeice and Arkwright merge to offer co-ordinated STEM learning for all

  • The Smallpeice Trust is the largest STEM education charity in the UK, delivering over 700 STEM programmes a year.
  • A record 1,594 students applied for an Arkwright Engineering Scholarship in 2017, with a record 425 Scholarships awarded.
  • The merger is the natural next step in the formal relationship between the Arkwright Scholarships Trust and The Smallpeice Trust, which dates back to 2002.

Scholar wins National Triumph Design Award

Scholar Eneh Alexander-Ikwue has won the prestigious Triumph Design Award for 2017, with her smart plant growth system.  This is the second consecutive year that an Arkwright Scholar has won this national competition. Well done to Eneh! 

Scholars given insight into Nuclear Industry

In late July, the Nuclear Institute ran a five-day residential summer school for Arkwright Scholars to give them a taste of the nuclear industry. The course included lectures on a variety of nuclear topics and visits to a power station, fuel fabricator, and academic research department.
