About Arkwright

Over 30 Years of Inspiring Engineering Talent

Arkwright Engineering Scholarships is a programme within The Smallpeice Trust (a registered charity) and are the most esteemed scholarship scheme of its type in the UK.

Through our Arkwright Engineering Scholarships programme we identify, inspire and nurture future brilliant Engineers. We do this by awarding Arkwright Engineering Scholarships, through a rigorous selection process, to high-calibre students who apply when in Year 11 (England and Wales), S4 (Scotland), Year 12 (Northern Ireland). Our Arkwright Engineering Scholarships support students through their A Levels or Scottish Highers and encourage students to pursue Engineering, Computing or technical Design at university or through a higher-level apprenticeship and to pursue careers in the field.

Every Arkwright Engineering Scholarship is sponsored by an industrial company, university, charitable trust, trade association, professional institution, armed service, worshipful company, industry regulator or personal donor.

"Thank you for your support of my son over the last two years. The money and the support of his Sponsor has made a real difference to him in what, for our family, have been tough economic times. As a proud Dad I know that the confidence boost of the Scholarship and your faith in my son started the journey that led to him gaining a place to read engineering at Cambridge. The Arkwright exam, interview and Award Ceremony, and the support of his Sponsor, made him think he could do it!”
