Schools - Criteria for Affiliation to Arkwright
To be considered for affiliation to the Arkwright Scholarships Trust, schools should:
- have year 11/S4 students studying Design & Technology, Engineering, Technological Studies, Craft & Design, Electronics or related subjects or have feeder schools that offer these subjects
- have a Head Teacher who is a strong supporter of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) in the curriculum
- offer students opportunities to participate in STEM enrichment activities outside the curriculum
- actively encourage students to reach their maximum potential and to go on to university whenever possible
- Affiliated Schools must also be willing to host the Arkwright aptitude paper at the School for candidates from feeder schools.
How to Apply for Affiliation
If your school meets the criteria you can download the affiliation form [pdf] to complete and return it to Arkwright HQ. Your affiliation will be formalised if we receive student applications from you within a year of you submitting this form to us.
Alternatively, if your School meets the criteria above you can contact the Arkwright Schools and Scholars Administrator who can arrange for a Liaison Officer to visit your school to meet the Head Teacher and Head of Design & Technology (Technological Studies in Scotland) to discuss the Arkwright Engineering Scholarships.
