Open up the world of Arkwright Engineering Scholarships to your students

Every teacher wants to inspire their students to achieve their full potential. Arkwright Engineering Scholarships are for the outstanding engineers of tomorrow.

The Smallpeice Trust’s Arkwright Engineering Scholarship programme is designed to inspire and develop the next generation of future leaders as they finish school and progress into the exciting world of engineering.

Applying in Year 11 and awarded at the beginning of Year 12*, the Scholarship provides enrichment experiences, financial support and promotes valuable networking and employment opportunities within industry, as students make the decisions that inform their future.

In a world where university selection processes and entry-level jobs are demanding an ever-increasing list of qualifications and experience for students to stand out, an Arkwright Engineering Scholarship is an opportunity to gain a real insight into what it takes to be an Engineer.

*Applicants in Scotland / Northern Ireland will apply in S4 / Year 12
and receive their Scholarship in S5 / Year 13.

"We know that our students benefit enormously from the application, aptitude exam and interview process. For those that successfully attain an Arkwright Engineering Scholarship the opportunities that open up demonstrate the intrinsic value of the programme."

Cormac McKinney, Principal of St Colman's College, Newry

Students must submit their initial, online applications between October and January each academic year. A £45.00 administration fee is payable, by April, for each student application. This helps to cover the cost of Arkwright's rigorous selection process. This fee may be payable by the School or the applicant's parents depending on local arrangements (which are beyond the control of the Arkwright Engineering Scholarships). Teachers should decide how best the fee can be paid.
