Arkwright Provides Evidence to Commons Science & Technology Committee

1 February 2017

The House of Commons Science & Technology Committee is currently conducting an enquiry into ways to close the STEM skills gap. The Arkwright Scholarships Trust has responded with evidence from its 25 years of experience collaborating with schools and a diversity of funders, during which it has worked to close the skills gap in relation to future leaders of the engineering profession.

Arkwright's experience is that its diverse group of sponsor -  industrial companies (SMEs to large multinationals), universities, trade associations, professional institutions, armed services, industry regulators, charitable trusts, livery companies, personal donors - have concerns about the STEM talent pipeline that feeds engineering careers, focused on the quantity, quality and diversity of young people in the pipeline. Arkwright's evidence can be seen here.
