Making a donation to the Arkwright Scholarships Trust
The Arkwright Scholarships Trust is run efficiently. We work closely with The Smallpeice Trust. Arkwright is a separate registered charity, but has the benefit of Smallpeice’s facilities and administrative expertise – which provides economies of scale. We also benefit from many volunteers who support our work.
There are several ways in which companies and individuals can contribute financially to the work of the Arkwright Scholarships Trust. These are:
- Sponsoring an Arkwright Engineering Scholar – Scholarships are £2000 spread over two years and will help fund an aspiring young engineer during their sixth form studies.
- Making a single gift either on-line with a credit card (this will incur a credit card surcharge) or by post by sending us either the personal donor's pledge form or a pledge form for your organisation along with your cheque.
- Gifts of shares, with capital gains and income tax relief for the donor (contact your Adviser or Stockbroker to find out more).
- Leaving a gift to the Arkwright Scholarships Trust in your Will.
Whichever option you choose, you will not only be securing your personal relationship with Arkwright, but you will be helping to ensure a future supply of talented young engineers able to contribute towards a healthy engineering sector in the UK.
As a registered charity, Arkwright can reclaim the tax back from your personal donation, so long as you are a British taxpayer. Basic rate tax is currently 20 per cent, so this means that if you give £10 using Gift Aid, it’s worth £12.50 to Arkwright.
Companies can also claim Corporation Tax Relief on their donation to Arkwright through their corporation tax return.
Our Fundraising Brochure is available online. If you would like a copy to be sent to you in the post please email Georgina Hare.
