I would like to welcome you to The Arkwright Scholarships Trust site. I believe as the Chief Executive of the programme that the future prosperity of this country is dependent upon encouraging the most talented of our young people to consider a career in the field of design and engineering and lead ultimately to their becoming the much needed young engineers of the future.
In the last 9 years the Arkwright Scholarship Trust’s reputation for identifying talented and committed 15/16 year old students to encourage into engineering, technology, maths and science has grown.
The Trust has just signed up to the UK Resource Centre for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology (UKRC) CEO Charter. The Charter aims to encourage diversity in the workforce and is a visible commitment from businesses and organisations within science, engineering and technology to implement positive culture change. The signing of the Charter demonstrates our commitment to gender equality [pdf].
The Annual Report for the year ending 31st December 2009 [pdf] reflects the considerable success of the Trust in a very challenging economic climate and shows the commitment of all our stakeholders in helping us to achieve our aims and objectives. 586 Schools are now affiliated and 100 sponsors support Scholarships. The cost of supporting a Scholar is still only £1800 over two years, a level maintained over the last 5 years. You can make a donation via the Making a donation page.
